The re-recorded, re-mastered version of my original Awakened To Metal album from 2009.

In the autumn of 2008, after my first year with Carousel when I graduated on the music side of the Create This! training course, I came back with four other graduates for monthly music sessions (the period of time later known as the Electric Academy) to begin forming a second band (I say second because at this point I was called to join the band who tutored on the course, Beat Express, as their first official guitarist and one of two backing vocalists). Since I didn't know that the two returning groups of Create This! music graduates were going as far as becoming two additional bands for Carousel, I felt I had some freedom to record a solo song or two as we'd all have a chance to do our own thing. That's what I did with my song Awakened To Metal, but when I saw that I could record a solo song adequately enough within the last 15 minutes of a monthly session, I took advantage to do so with a new song each month over the the next year until I could make them into my first ever solo album, whilst strangely never getting in the way of the others' progression even when I was doing solo work within sessions that were for us all as a group.

I made extra small amounts of money when selling copies here and there, but after two years the quality of the songs became obsolete when I listened back over them. I had developed much as a musician, and basically looked back on my album similarly to how George Lucas looked back over his original cut of the Star Wars trilogy. I never truly felt that my songs were finished in terms of sound quality, vocal performance and lyrics. So in April 2012, I started visiting Carousel music facilitator Tom Cook each month at his house to re-do all 8 songs the way they were intended, with the addition of Overthrow The Law from Create This! and the newer unrecorded A Broken Heart. I personally released the album on Valentine's Day 2013 whilst upstaging it with my solo performance at the Blue Starfish Club in Worthing that evening, and here it is now on Bandcamp.
