The Broken by Fireball Ministry was perhaps the earliest example of metal that I became familiar with. I first heard it as part of the soundtrack for the 2005 video game WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW 2006, and it stuck in my mind more than any of the other songs. That's why it became the very first song I performed when I first played to people musically on May 24th 2007, at my leavers' day assembly in Chailey School. I also bought the song's album Their Rock Is Not Our Rock later that summer and loved the rest of what I heard from those dudes.

However, I remembered when I thought back to it that I sung it an octave below that of original vocalist James A. Rota II, and wasn't happy about it. I understood that for me to try and sing it high at the time would've risked throwing me off balance when I'd never performed before, but I knew I could reach those high notes all these years later. At the end of the day, it made sense for me to revisit this old song and include it in the album.
